Virginia's interests are many: interior design, hiking, gardening, cycling, ballet, sailing, and painting. Of these she is most passionate about cycling and painting. To combine the two, she carries her camera on every biking excursion. The landscapes are rife with photographs, many of which can be seen in her paintings.
In 1991 she earned a certificate in Interior Design from Okanagan College, and went on to take some drawing courses. Her first works were with coloured pencils, but in 2011 she joined a group of friends and began painting with acrylics.
Someday, she will explore the realm of mixed media by combining acrylics and coloured pencil. Her other artistic outlets include working with stained glass, designing and sewing fabric tote bags, and creating beads from paper.
She is a member of the Enderby & District Arts Council, Armstrong Museum and Arts Society, and the Shuswap District Arts Council. Her paintings, both commissioned and non-commissioned, have been purchased by people from British Columbia, Alberta, and the United States. She is retired and lives with her husband in the North Okanagan Valley of British Columbia.
